Watching a show with your partner is normally one sided. Either they are happy, or you are happy, not normally both. I get it, TRUST ME!
It is difficult to find a show that everyone can agree on. This list has shows that are sure to please everyone! There is drama, law, mystery, comedy and more!
Finding a show that everyone enjoys has actually presented interesting conversations and time together. Yes, it may be in front of a television screen, but it’s better than staring at your phones and not talking about anything, right?
My husband and I have about an hour after the kids go to bed and before we give up on staying awake. During this time we normally get out the good snacks and curl up on the couch together and watch a show that we both like.
So here it is. Our list of couple approved shows that both he and I enjoyed. Take a look, get into your comfy clothes, curl up on the couch and enjoy!
Grimm is one of our favorites. It has drama, mystery, crime solving all mixed into a fairy tale story line of mythical creatures. We have actually watched this show twice…all six seasons!
This sitcom is funny and raw. It doesn’t sugarcoat a relationship between strangers who are forced together by an unexpected pregnancy who later get married. The humor is “in your face” and makes your life seem a little less of a catastrophe. I was sad that it ended after 4 seasons.
Bones has a unique story line. It follows an anthropologist helping the FBI. It is witty, funny, has mystery and is a great show if you like crime shows and series. With 12 seasons, you will have plenty to talk about for a while.
I don’t know about you, but I am fascinated with all things with British voices, beautiful gowns and drama! The Crown took a while for my husband to get into but he eventually he was drawn to the history and background the show covers. If you like history based series, The Crown is sure to intrigue you!
Mix The Sandlot with a little bit of the Goonies, throw in some science fiction and I give you Stranger Things. This is a great show for kids born in the 80/90’s. You find yourself noticing things from your childhood and how great it was being able to just grab your bike and ride around town…minus the things from another world trying to get you.
I love pretty much any spin off using the Sherlock character. This series is a British adaptation that has witty humor, crime, drama, an unlikely partnership and great cast. This particular series has 4 seasons full of mystery!
Suits took a little while for me to get into but once the story line picked up, I was hooked. This show is crammed packed with drama and scandal and brings out the lawyer wanna be’s in us all! With 9 seasons and still going (with spin-offs) this show is great if you like law and scandal!
This show was a pleasant surprise! Most of the shows on this list were, no surprise, picks of my husbands. However, this list only has the shows that I enjoyed watching with him. Psych is witty, funny and creates a different kind of aspect into the crime fighting world. There are 8 seasons of laughing and crime solving.
Elementary is a really great show that is addictive. Another adaptation of Sherlock Holmes, this creative spin presents a modern take on the familiar characters. This show has you guessing and on you toes the entire time and has 7 seasons of sarcasm and mystery solving.
This is a new series that just came out on Amazon Prime. If you are unfamiliar with the comic (both my husband and I didn’t know one existed), the show follows a group of superheros and a group that hated them. It is a very different show than what is out there and had us both intrigued the entire time
Monk is kinda has the Sherlock and Holmes partnership thing going on. It follows a man who can see the unseen and his partner who helps him not only on the crime scenes they are called to but with his personal issues (OCD). It is witty and funny and has 8 seasons.
Game of Thrones is a very different kind of show. Every episode is different and isn’t really consistent on a theme or genre category (drama, mystery, romance, action, etc.) and what each episode offers but it gives you everything you need. It keeps you on your toes and has you guessing the entire time! It has 8 seasons jammed with a crazy story line, lovable and dislike-able characters making it a must watch.
This show has a variety of characters and drama! It is a breath of fresh air in the TV series world because it is different than most shows out there currently. It follows an ad agency, an ad marketer, relationships, points in history and it’s great! This show has seven seasons.
Chuck is a lighthearted detective show that has humor and action in a less violent, gory manner than we are used to seeing in other action packed crime fighting show. It has 5 seasons.
Billions was a suggestions after we fished Suits. It has a similar flow, and follows law and money. It definitely has it’s share in drama, sex, betrayal and more. We are waiting for season 5
Weeds has an unfiltered, unlikely story line that will have you laughing and questioning this momma’s morals! With eight seasons following a mother constantly making bad choices, this show will make you feel better about your life!!
Another show that will make you scratch your head at the decisions of others (even if it is just a show). Shameless is a raw humored show that follows a family and their very questionable choices. It will have you laughing, crying, making disgusted faces for 10 seasons its still showing.
I started watching The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel alone (I’d watch it in 50 minute increments because that’s how long my break is at my mommy job) and my husband caught a brief scene and was intrigued. We started the series over and have now finished all 3 seasons.
If you are wanting something that doesn’t have cops, lawyers, crime or a lot of drama, you will like this show that follows a group of friends and their humor filled lives.
The ranch is a comedy filled show that is very different than the mystery shows that we are normally drawn to. The show is witty and down to earth and I love Sam Elliott’s voice!
The Following is a little dark. It follows a cult that commits crimes and is at times a little unsettling, but that’s what brings you back. It keeps you on your toes and guessing the entire time!
