I will admit that we were not ready for two little ones. Mentally, YES! Productively, NO!
The house wasn’t ready. The rooms that we would make into nurseries were not decided (older homes have this wonderful trait where they offer several rooms that can literally be any room you want!)
It wasn’t until recently that we rearranged our little home to make the most use out of our floor plan and to make spaces for our little ones…now 11 months and 9 months (better late than never!).
We wanted every one on the first floor for now, so Mike and I gave up our glorious master bedroom and moved into a room that was once used as a hair salon…so some updates were in order. We painted, covered holes in the walls, laid carpet, took down the grocery store lighting and hung a delicate fixture to soften the room and make it feel less like a bad VRBO stay.
The first night we laid down to sleep in our new master room, (now only big enough to fit our queen size bed and a phone charger) Mike said, “Well, it’s official, we are parents.”
We chuckled and I knew exactly what he meant by saying that. We give up so much for our children to make them happy.
Our bodies.
Our time.
Our money.
Our careers.
Our social lives.
Our schedules.
Our free time.
Our hobbies.
Our white upholstered furniture.
Our nice clothes.
Our space.
Our master bedrooms.
But I would give up anything and everything for those babies, I wouldn’t have it any other way.
So here I am, in the sweetest little VRBO rental, loving my little roommates!
